Since 2013 Gawler Street Café has been supplying Mount Barker’s main street with quality local produce and delicious coffee on a daily basis. Locally owned and operated it is a true local institution for lovers of fine food and coffee. With the wood oven flickering in the back of the open kitchen, the funky music playing and rustic timber furniture this place just feels like home. Any time of year the friendly staff will make you feel country style welcome and the quick service of food and coffee feels like you are in the heart of a big city.
Resurrecting the old wood oven originally built by John Bullock, the Gawler Street Café team have brought wood fired delicacies back to the menu in the Adelaide Hills. Not only producing wood oven pizza, all the meats, vegetables and even some cakes are baked in the redgum fired dome built into the rear wall of the small building.
Offering outside catering as well, chef Dylan has catered for events of up to 200 persons and brings the rustic local produce flavour with finger food or shared feast style catering. Huge paellas are also an option for catering, so be sure to check the catering menus if you are interested in Gawler Street Cafe’s services for your next event.
Owned and operated by locals Dylan Horne and Toni Zeitz with their young family this is a truly local family affair.
